Who we are

The Government Industrial Training Institute for Women,Guindy, Chennai- 32 was established in the year 1950 by a social organization called Sree Seva Mandir the basic concept for the foundation of the institute was to uplift the social status of the deserted, downtrodden and economically weaker section of women in the society. The Institution has established by State Government in the year 1956 with 6 trades.

ADMISSION

The candidates for admission are selected based on merit and communal rotation every year through Online Counseling conducted by the DET at State Level. The candidates according to their rank will choose the course or ITI as per his/her choice. The selection order issued to each candidate on the spot.

The training session usually starts during the month of August & ends in the month of July. Training is being given as per National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) norms.

WELFARE SCHEME TO THE TRAINEES

The Government of Tamilnadu has sanctioned the following concessions to the Government & Aided Private ITI trainees to encourage the admission and active participation in Skill Training Programme to help the poor and downtrodden youth.

They are:
  •    Free bus pass between their place of residence and the institute for the entire Training period.
  •    Free uniforms (two sets) with stitching charges per year to all the trainees.
  •    Free Bi-Cycle to all the trainees (Boys & Girls).
  •    Free Laptop to all the eligible trainees.
  •    Free Text Books for all the Semesters.
  •    Free Drawing Instruments to all the Engineering trade trainees.
  •    Free shoe (one set) for all the Trainees.
  •    Free distribution of I.D Card for all the Trainees.
STIPEND :

Monthly stipend of Rs.750/-is issued to all the trainees.

TRAIN-CONCESSION PASS DETAILS:

Train concession pass is recommended for all eligible trainees as per Southern Railway norms.

PLACEMENT

To fulfill the trainees dreams by conducting placement drive and apprenticeship training which has reputable companies visiting our campus to recruit the skilled trainees. Some of the establishments are as follows:
