The craftsman training is provided to trainee with a view to prepare Semi Skilled workers for the Industry. The Educational qualification varies from class 8th pass to class 10th pass depending on the trades. The duration of training varies from one to two years in this Institute. The trainees after completion of craftsmen training appear in the all India trade test to get National Trade Certificate awarded by the National Council of Vocational Training, which is recognized for the purpose of recruitment to the subordinate technical posts at the shop floor level within the country as well as abroad. The state government through industrial training institute impart institutionalized vocational training scheme, which is one of the flagship programmes run by the DGE&T. One year of job apprenticeship training is given to the ITI passed out trainees in the Industries.
When and how to apply for admission to a trade in the ITI? Apply through online in the website "www.skilltraining.tn.gov.in" every year soon after the SSLC results are published, in the month of June. After applying the candidate will be called for District level single window counseling and given chance to select the desired trade as per his merit and Communal reservation policy of Tamilnadu government.

Candidates may visit the web site "www.skilltraining.tn.gov.in" to read the prospectus and fill up the application to join the course. Only online mode of application is accepted.
AGE LIMIT:
The minimum age limit for admission to all the trades is 14 years . There is no upper age limit for women to join in the courses.

NOTE: 5 seats are reserved for dependents of ex servicemen in this Institute. These seats may be filled on merit basis by the other category applicants if suitable candidates in this category is not available, as per the instructions stipulated by the government.
