This ITI started its work in its own building in the year 1984 inaugurated by Thiru. Vijayasarathi, the then Labour Minister with the above trades.
From 2017 Admission, onwards additional one unit in the Trades of Electrician & Mechanic(Diesel) which is imparting at 3rd shift under SCVT and under PPP scheme Welder One year trade under SCVT pattern has been started.
There are wide opportunities for the ITI skilled Trainees .They are getting employment immediately after completion of the course and are selected in the campus interviews too. The reputed companies are visited our ITI frequently to recruit them for the needs in various disciplines.
Freebies and Stipend
The Government have sanctioned the following concessions to the Government ITI and Government aided Private ITI trainees:-
1. Bus pass between their place of residence and the institute for 12 months
2. Two sets of uniforms per year to all the trainees
3. Bi-Cycle to all the trainees
4. Laptop to all the trainees and
5. Text Books and drawing instruments to all the trainees.
Monthly stipend @ Rs.500/- to all the trainees irrespective of community and income
Infrastructure of Government ITI, Arakkonam
This Institute was located at Chennai- Tirupathi Highway (NH71) and State Highway Arakkonam-Tiruvallur (SH-58) an industrial area (near Dennis steels, Best & Crompton) which is nearest to Arakkonam Railway Junction(2 km) Totally it has 16.35 acres of land out of which 7.10 acres of land has built area.
This institute is now upgrading under PPP Scheme from 2009 onwards. The following trades was started from August 2017 session.
