HISTORY OF OUR I.T.I.

The Government Industrial Training Institute (Women), Pullambadi was established in the year 1990 under the special institute allotted for Women Welfare. It was established with the help of World Bank. The Institute originally started functioning in the premises of Pullambadi Panchayat Union building. In the beginning it offered training in three trades like Mechanic Radio & TV (MR & TV), Stenography (English) and Data Preparation and Computer Software (DPCS).

Later, on 03.01.1996 the Institute moved to this building and started functioning. In 1998 two more trades got established along with the existing three trades. The trades are Cutting and Sewing & Desk Top Publishing Operator (DTPO). The Institution is affiliated to the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), New Delhi that provides the approval through the Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Labour, Government of India, New Delhi and the training is imparted as per the syllabus and curriculum approved by Government of India in consultation with National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT). The primary function of this Institute is to train rural young girls/women in various vocational trades approved by NCVT.
The trades MR&TV and DPCS  have been renamed as ELECTRONIC MECHANIC and COMPUTER OPERATOR AND PROGRAMMING ASSISTANT.

The institute also underwent a vast change with the introduction of PPP scheme as per the instruction of government. Two new trades have been established under PPP.    Government of India has supported PPP by funding 2.5 crores towards the establishment of PPP.  Since the introduction of PPP the institute has got a new shine and vigour.  Principal of the institute acts as the secretary the chairman of PPP is Shri. V.Aravind of Vriddhachalam.

New trades under PPP started the training since 2015.  One batch had been sent out since the inception.  The second batch is undergoing training now.   The Institute has highly qualified & experienced faculty members and excellent infrastructural support in the form of well-equipped laboratories and other resources.
The Institute is coming up with all workshop and other infrastructural facilities for carrying out the various training programs to meet the current development in the field of vocational training curriculum.  Trainees attend the All India Trade Test  from all the trades in two semesters i.e. in the month of February and August every year.

Eligible woman Candidates are admitted to all the courses in the month of August every year as per the norms established by NCVT.  Candidates apply for the courses through online. Admission to this institute is carried on as per the norms of the State government.  The reservation criteria of the Government of Tamil Nadu is followed.  The admission is processed  vide counseling provided by the nodal institute of the district i.e. Thiruverumbur ITI in Trichy.
