Thirukkuvalai is a village situated in Nagapattinam district of Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The village is known for the Brahmapureeswarar Temple. The Thiyagarajar Temple at Tiruvarur is famous for the ajapa thanam(dance without chanting), that is executed by the deity itself. According to legend, a Chola king named Mucukunta obtained a boon from Indra (a celestial deity) and wished to receive an image of Thiyagaraja Swamy (presiding deity, Shiva in the temple) reposing on the chest of reclining Lord Vishnu.
The Thirukkuvalai Port is a deep-water multi-modal port being developed as a part of an integrated port and power project in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu. It is being developed by Tridem Port & Power Company Pvt. Ltd.[1] The entire project will entail an investment of about INR 100 billion with 45 billion in Phase I which includes 15 billion for the port development.[2] The Port is designed to handle 40 Mtpa.
It is the birthplace of former chief minister of the state, Mr. M. Karunanidhi where his ancestral home functions as a library.

Our iti 4km west of seeravattam on Nagapattinam- Thiruthuraipoondi road in the South western part of Nagapattinam from Thiruvarur it is located 9 km from (Kachanam)kaichinnam on Thiruvaroor- Thiruthuraipoondi National highway.
