Government is taking so many measures to uplift the Tribal people. Giving skill training plays a major role in uplifting them. In order to provide skill training, this Government Industrial Training Institute was started at Jamunamarathur in Thiruvannamalai District where the population of Schedule Tribe is more. This Institute is one among the five Institutes started exclusively for Schedule Tribes.
Government Industrial Training Institute (ST), Jamunamarathur under the Department of Employment and Training, Government of Tamil Nadu was started in the year of 2013 for the welfare of Scheduled Tribe students.
This Institute is functioning with five trades of Fitter, Plumber, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Wireman and Welder which all are Engineering trades. All the trades are affiliated with the National Council of Vocational Training under Director General of Training, New Delhi. The trainees who successfully passed the trade test will be issued NCVT certificates. This Institute caters the requirement of skilled man power to the Industries in and around Thiruvannamalai are made for tribal welfare and development.
This Institute is situated at about 45 Km from Polur Railway Station. It is located in the Eastern Ghats with a lush green background. Hostel for boys is functioning inside the campus with an accommodation of Fifty five students. The hostel is run by Department of Tribal Welfare. Inmates of hostel are provided with free food.
Admission is done through online. Applications can be filled through online and the applications will be available in the website https://skilltraining.tn.gov.in/ soon after the 10th standard results are published.
1. Admission is done purely on merit basis.
2. Candidates above the age of 14 years can apply. For male candidate 40 years is the upper age where as no upper age limit for female candidates.
3. In the academic year 2022-23, 90 percentage of admission was done in this Institute.
